Overview

Kai Sheng’s practice focuses on corporate and commercial disputes. He has acted in a wide range of contentious matters, including investor‑state disputes, fraud and asset recovery actions, and shareholder disputes.

Kai Sheng was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2026. He graduated summa cum laude from the Yong Pung How School of Law, Singapore Management University in 2024, where he was named the Kwa Geok Choo Top Law Student and placed on the Dean’s List on numerous occasions. During his studies, he represented the University in several international moot competitions, including the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, the University of Queensland Unjust Enrichment Moot, and the Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition, and was awarded multiple written memorial prizes.

In addition to practice, Kai Sheng contributes actively to legal education and scholarship. He is currently an adjunct lecturer at his alma mater, where he teaches Evidence Law and Business Law, and serves as a facilitator for the Singapore Legal System module under Part A of the Singapore Bar Examinations. He has also co‑authored publications including Civil Procedure in Singapore (Fifth Edition) and Annotated Laws of Singapore: Evidence Act 1893 (2026 Edition), and has written case notes for the Singapore Academy of Law Journal. Notably, his case note on company law has been cited by the General Division of the High Court.

Notable Cases

  • Representing a Singapore property development company in defending a claim by United Overseas Bank Ltd for damages amounting to more than S$92 million.
  • Representing a sovereign state in resisting the enforcement of an ICSID arbitral award exceeding US$7 billion, one of the largest awards rendered under the ICSID Convention.
